Teaching is a profession that has been in Mrs. Harrington’s family for years. As a child she heard stories of teaching from her grandmother and knew that one day, she would be a teacher too. Mrs. Harrington received her teaching degree from the University of Delaware and a Masters in Special Education from Delaware State University.
Mrs. Harrington’s 21 years as a teacher began at the Sussex Consortium teaching in the Autism Program. After 4 years, she then moved to Shields Elementary School in Lewes and then to Milton Elementary School after the new middle schools were opened. She taught the 3rd grade for 14 years. She is currently the Math Specialist at H. O. Brittingham Elementary School.
Mrs. Harrington’s teaching accolades include Shield’s Elementary Teacher of the Year (2001), Distinguished Geography Teacher of Delaware (2008 & 2009), and Geography Teacher of the Year for the State of Delaware (2009). For winning this award, she attended the 2009 National Geography Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Mrs. Harrington is also a National Board Certified Teacher (2005).
In her spare time, Mrs. Harrington enjoys spending time with her family. Her children are Anna (9th grade - Cape Henlopen High School) and LB (7th grade - Mariner Middle School). Mrs. Harrington is proud to be a Cape graduate, Cape parent, and Cape teacher! In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, reading novels, and going to the beach.
